The window is closing for B2B entrepreneurs from around the world to compete for a total of $5 million in what organizers say is “the world’s largest startup competition.”

Comet Competition, sponsored by global cloud computing mainstay Ingram Micro Cloud, will get underway later this year across 16 different countries and five continents. Finalists in each place will each win $100,000 in go-to-market cash, and they’ll also qualify for Cloud Summit 2020, which will be held in Miami May 12 – 14. The overall winner at Cloud Summit will win $1 million.

Representatives from Ingram Micro say that startups with a world-changing business-to-business concept making up to $10 million in annual revenue are welcome to compete in the event, especially those working in cybersecurity, infrastructure management, IoT, fintech, and other leading innovations.

“Our goal at Ingram Micro Cloud is to help identify and bring to market the best technology,” said Michael Kenney, an executive at Ingram Micro, who expressed excitement at the way Comet Competition helps global startups “achieve significant business milestones faster and more broadly” than they would have other wise.

Last year’s winner, Boston-based computer vision anti-phishing software firm Pixm, certainly found that to be the case. Arun Buduri, the company’s co-founder and president, said that winning Comet Competition was like “nuclear fuel” for its business, which now works with Google, Wells Fargo, PayPal, and other clients. He stressed that in the wake of competing in last year’s competition, Pixm’s customer acquisition cost has been brought down to “nearly zero.”

The deadline is October 31st to submit an application.
