A Finnish startup has announced the launch of a crowd funding campaign for its newly redesigned, The Hug sensor band, which aims to re-imagine the way people approach their hydration needs.
Produced by the hardware startup, Caktus, The Hug is a mobile-empowered sensor band that wraps around water bottles and links up to a smartphone app which tracks daily consumption in real time. The Hug’s ultimate goal is to make user’s conscious about the amount of water they drink, and to raise awareness about poor hydration habits.
“As hardware developers, we like to avoid the abstract and focus on concrete solutions to essential problems,” says Caktus CEO Panu Keski-Pukkila, “we wanted to build a simple solution that could be part of the daily lives of our users and help coach them towards healthier drinking habits.”
“Once you begin digging into the research, the implications are astounding. Simply put, water is essential to every cell and function in the human body.,” said Keski-Pukkila, “With The Hug, we aim to change behavior and attitudes on an individual level, we want to help people improve their hydration habits.”
