MailChimp and ExactTarget earned top ratings in G2 Crowd’s latest crowdsourced business software ratings. And newcomer DotMailer jumped 40 points in customer satisfaction to join them as the three top email marketing systems according to G2 Crowd users.

G2 Crowd, along with TrustRadius, is a leading crowdsourced software recommendation engine. The company asks software users to review tools they actually use, then scores them based on satisfaction, market presence, and number of ratings. For email marketing, the company also asked reviewers to rate features like email and mobile previews, high-volume sending, and reliable delivery.

Arguably, the crowdsourced result is more accurate than individual product reviews.
Just because it’s crowdsourced doesn’t mean it’s small-time. One reviewer, who works for AARP and evaluated the top-rated ExactTarget, sends almost a billion emails a year:
“We send 60-80 million emails messages in about 160 different campaigns each month,” Mark Nylec, a director at AARP, said in his review. “We have pushed the technology often and have found that ExactTarget is always able to do what we request.”
Five companies achieved coveted “leader” status.
Constant Contact and Responsys joined MailChimp, ExactTarget, and dotMailer as the top five email marketing solutions. They are in the top 10 percent of all email solutions, since there are more than 50 email marketing system on G2 Crowd, the company says.
One interesting finding? Companies achieve positive ROI from these 13 ranked email systems in an average of seven months.
